THEME:

Each year we work to a theme and next year  it will be: CABINET OF CURIOSITIES.

Three projects are presented to the group and we go from there.

It's an invitiation to create in depth and push the boundaries of your own personal creativity.  How campers approach the projects an entirely personal process.

Our three projects are:

THIS IS A WORK IN PROGRESS.

Each camper has the choice to work on one/two or all three projects. There's no expectation to finish the projects within the timeframe. The idea is to explore, delve, experiement and wander down new creative paths to see "what happens if...."

Book Camps are not like any of my other classes, they do push people into uncomfortable zones within their own creativity. I'm not going to pretend it's not challenging. But, I have a TONNE of experience, skills and knowlege to help guide you through. It's not a step by step class so everyone ends up with unique versions of the projects. It's all about interpretation.

JENNY: CAMP MOTHER

We learnt very quickly at book camp, that in order to run an efficent event we needed an efficent person on the team. Jenny, known fondly as Camp Mother,  is my person on the ground in Australia. It's thanks to her we secured such an amazing venue (the footy club that overlooks the ocean). She’s my right hand woman who ensures I get the help and support I need to ensure I provide the help and support for the campers.

ACCOMODATION:

Accomodation isn't included in the camp fees, campers make their own arrangements. If you're coming for the first time and want some help and advise with what's available in the area, let me know.

THE CLASSROOM

Our classroom is situated inside the footy club in Queenscliff. It is very spacious with a stunning ocean view. Students can wander off for a beach walk, enjoy numerous cafes and the company of book campers with a common interest in all things books.

We can fit 14 students + Liz easily into the room, and the tables are laid out creating an inclusive community feel. Campers enjoy sharing their ideas/knowledge/skills so it becomes a giant pool of creativity students can dip into and delight in.

THE FOOD

Campers provide their own breakfast and dinners.

You can opt in to have toasted sandwiches each day with a selection of fillings, or make your own arrangements for lunch.

We often end up eating together at night in one of the lovely restaurants.

IN THE AREA:

There is a fabulous range of shops, a museum, supermarket, bakery, coffee shops, restaurants, op shops, amazing ocean walks, vintage shops, stunning views. By mutual agreement, we can choose to have the Wednesday as a group outing day or campers can stay and enjoy creating.
