Monday 29th July @10am NZ DATES AND TIMES.

Jo and I will be doing a few loosen up exercises to get the creativity and laughter flowing. I've found myself that  if I don't  have a project or a reason to create, it's hard to sit down 'cold' and just create. Or, just because. A pre-creating session is a great way to loosen up and lead into a creative session.

In this class, Jo and I will be working with you to get our creative juices flowing - as we present to you a creative portfolio of ideas you can draw on to loosen up.

We want you to leave the session full of enthusisam and a way forward on those days when it seems like it's too hard to simply just create!

We'll be using basic materials that you'll most likely have lying around, and we'll give you suggestions if you don't.

A materials list will be emailed once you sign up.

If you're an Essence of Play reader, there is a coupon code to get $5 off this class (expires 1st August 2024). Please check Issue 3 for details.

Liz & Jo aren't  'cookie cutter' teachers  -  We're quite comfortable if people go off piste and produce individual results. We both like to explore ideas/concepts and options as we create.

1. Will the class be recorded? And how long can you view it for?
The class will be recorded and sent out soon after the class ends with a link and a password (to Vimeo). I'll make it available as long as I can store them on vimeo and as long as I own Book Art Studios.

2. Can I sign up and watch with a friend?

The cost of the class is per person. Thank you for not sharing the details with a friend (but encouraging them to sign up too!) and supporting me to make a living as an artist.

3. Is the class suitable for a newbie to creating?

Absolutely! If you turn up to the LIVE you can ask lots of questions.

4. How much do I have to spend on materials?

I encourage people to use what they have and adapt before rushing off to buy new materials. A material list is sent out as soon as you purchase the class.

A little about your tutors:

I began my working life as an early childhood teacher at the tender age of 16 and have been teaching in one way or another ever since. My classes aren't rehearsed, I often make things up as I go along, discover new ways of approaching creativity and enjoy having fun while I work. You'll be in good, gentle, caring hands. I encourage questions in my zoom classroom but equally, if you're nervous and don't want to be present, you can switch off your camera and microphone and just watch. You can ask questions in the chat.

Born in Manchester, England, it’s hardly surprising Jo has a love for all things industrial, as well as typography and graphic design. Jo loves breaking rules, thinking outside the creative box and extending herself creatively. Jo enjoys experimenting with different printmaking techniques. Jo lives in the Wairarapa, a beautiful, scenic part of New Zealand

We encourage people to create at their own level of comfort.

Loosen Up class: NEW CLASS!

  • Please read up about the class before you purchase it as I do not offer refunds for online classes.

I do everything I can to advertise it correctly. If you have any questions, ask before you purchase the class. You are buying the class for one person, please don't buy it then show it to a group of friends. This is how I make a living as an artist. Thank you.

  • By turning up LIVE to the class with your camera on, you're agreeing to be recorded. This recording is available to anyone who has purchased the class or a copy of Essence of Play. If you do not fancy being recorded, leave your camera off.
