As it's an online class and in my experience of teaching - most people like to watch and experiment afterwards and I recommend this, as there's a lot to take in.

This is an adventurous and fun class where you'll be surprised at how quickly you can create depth in the pages using simple techniques and very basic equipment.

FAQ QUESTIONS:

Q: Can I see the materials list before I register for this class?

A: I'm afraid not as it has some secret squirrel information on it that's the key ingredient in this class, so I'm sorry, I can't. But please note, the materials are easily sourced and not expensive!

Q: How much can I expect to spend on materials for this class?

If you spend more than $50US on materials I'll be surprised. I encourage people to shop local and source cheap/free items. You can use natural dyes for this technique if you like. I chat about various papers in this class, most people have easy access to a range of papers.

Q: Can we have access to the dyes you use in New Zealand?

A: Unfortunately, the company I get my dyes from do not ship outside New Zealand. However, I have an international student base who have access to a range of dyes from around the world. I even had a student in Eygpt who used Henna! This technique does not rely on my dyes to make it work. I've seen stunning results from a variety of dyes.

Q: How long will we have access to the recording?

A: As long as I am running Book Art Studios, you have access to the recordings.

Q: Do you need lots of space?

A: When I teach, I'm working in a tiny space (just big enough to be seen on camera, so half a dinning room table size). But when I create I make a big mess! The main thing is having somewhere to dry your delicious paper as it's been created. A lot of people tend to create in the summer so they can get their papers dry quickly. But if you only have a dinning room table, that's enough space.

Q: Can I watch the recordings with a friend?

Only if your friend has also bought the class.

Q: Can I teach people how to dye paper using your method?

Please don't! I've developed this technique over 10 years. One day I might develop a train the trainer programme.

Q: Why are you so secretive about this technique?

It's so unique you won't find it anywhere else. In this day and age where everyone shares everything, it's actually lovely to have something with a bit of mystery and intrigue! This is also how I make my living as an artist. I have created a warm and inclusive community which is not secretive! You can be part of this if you want to buy the class.
