This class has been and gone, but you can still buy it or, buy a copy of Essence of Play and get complimentary access to it! The handout contains the recording details and class handout.

Jo has created a set of S.O.A.P cards (switch off and play) which are designed to help you get stuck into creating. We thought it would be a fun joint project to create a set together in a class.

Creating a set of S.O.A.P cards is laying the foundation to help yourself in the future if you're in need of some direction, ideas to get creating, inpsiriation and motivation. It's a fun, easy activity and a good way to use up odds and bobs in your creative space.

A set of cards like this are a great edition to any creative toolkit.

PLEASE NOTE: IF YOU LEAVE IT TOO LONG TO DOWNLOAD THE LINK WITH THE HANDOUT WILL EXPIRE!

WHAT WE COVER IN THIS CLASS:

  • Jo will chat about the idea behind her S.O.A.P cards
  • Materials that can be easily (and cheaply) sourced to create a set of personalised S.O.A.P cards
  • Using mixed media materials (rubber stamps, gesso, coffee etc). on the cards

Please note,  Liz & Jo aren't  'cookie cutter' teachers  -  We're quite comfortable if people go off piste and produce individual results. We both like to explore ideas/concepts and options as we create.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

1. Will the class be recorded? And how long can you view it for?
The class will be recorded and sent out soon after the class ends with a link and a password (to Vimeo). I'll make it available as long as I can store them on vimeo and as long as I own Book Art Studios.

2. Can I sign up and watch with a friend?

The cost of the class is per person. Thank you for not sharing the details with a friend (but encouraging them to sign up too!) and supporting me to make a living as an artist.

3. Is the class suitable for a newbie to book binding?

Absolutely! I suggest you watch first, ask questions then enjoy creating with the recordings.

4. How much do I have to spend on materials?

I encourage people to use what they have and adapt before rushing off to buy new materials. A material list is sent out as soon as you purchase the class. You can make a set of cards very cheaply by recycling old materials if you don't have what's needed.

A little about your tutors:

Liz
I began my working life as an early childhood teacher at the tender age of 16 and have been teaching in one way or another ever since. My classes aren't rehearsed, I often make things up as I go along, discover new ways of approaching creativity and enjoy having fun while I work. You'll be in good, gentle, caring hands. I encourage questions in my zoom classroom but equally, if you're nervous and don't want to be present, you can switch off your camera and microphone and just watch. You can ask questions in the chat.

Jo:

Born in Manchester, England, it’s hardly surprising Jo has a love for all things industrial, as well as typography and graphic design. Jo loves breaking rules, thinking outside the creative box and extending herself creatively. Jo enjoys experimenting with different printmaking techniques. Jo lives in the Wairarapa, a beautiful, scenic part of New Zealand

WE encourage people to create at their own level of comfort.

I do everything I can to advertise it correctly. If you have any questions, ask before you purchase the class. You are buying the class for one person, please don't buy it then show it to a group of friends. This is how I make a living as an artist. Thank you.
